The tower-house residence of Sir John Stewart of Darnley, built about 1400, stands within a ringwork defense dating to Sir Robert Croc's time in the later 12th century. It was held by Henry Stewart, Lord Darnely, second husband of Mary, Queen of Scots. They may have been betrothed here. It was gifted to the National Trust in 1931, it was their first property.

Stalker was built in the 13th century and in 1689. It was exchanged for an 8 oared galley during a drunken spree. It is perched on a low rocky platform at the mouth of Loch Linnhe. A spring storm parts it's rays on both sides of the castle, as if respecting the castles ground. New!! See the Embossed
