Fanad Head Lighthouse was built along the Fanad Peninsula as a result of the Saldana being wrecked on the treacherous rocks below the Head with all lives lost. The only survivor was a parrot, which was identified by a silver collar with the name of the ship on it. Co. Donegal

Fanad Head Lighthouse was built in 1817, then larger and higher towers were added in the 1880's. This print is made from a 645 black and white negative, that was developed in Pyro PMK. The Pyro method is one that dates back many years, and stains the negative. The negatives and the print were all hand developed by myself. |
