While the present church was built between 1220-1260, there has been a house of worship on this site since 700 AD. In 1552 , Beverley Minster was in falling into decay and ruin, by the 16th century, it was remitted from paying taxes to the crown because of great poverty. By the 18th century, the Minster was in a poor state of repair, and restoration was started. |

Salisbury's spire is the tallest and most elegant in Britain, rising a staggering 404 feet above the ground. The spire was added between 1297 and 1320. The weight of an additional 6500 tons of stone on the central crossing, caused them to bend, so buttresses had to be built to support them. |
