Known as Irelands most famous dolmen, the Poulnabrone is a striking portal tomb dating back to 2500 B.C. It is found in the heart of the Burren's limestone plateau. It has become on of Ireland's better known symbols.

Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery once boasted the country's largest collection of stone age tombs. Quarrying has destroyed many graves, but about 40 passage tombs and dolmens survive. They lie scattered among gardens and gravel pits.

Each year on St. Columba's feast day, June 9th, pilgrims come and follow the stations of the cross in Glencolumbkille. These ancient stones are strewn over a distance of more than 3 miles. Small megalithic burial mounds are scattered about the valley.
